This Sheildmaiden styled necklace is crafted by hand from pruned tree branches, carved into shape with a penknife, burned using the ancient art of Pyrography and hand painted…what could be more unique?

I love everything Viking, and being a descendant makes me appreciate their lives and culture even more.

This wood necklace measures approximately 20mm (0.75”, 3/4”, 2cm)…sizes will vary slightly as the pendant is cut from a branch.

The wood is carved to a rough circle shape, representing the shield.

All of the dark sections are burned into the wood and the colored section is painted with acrylics. You may prefer the version with the red (after Lagertha unites Hedeby and Kattegat) - just let me know. 

On the back of the one shown is the Aegishjalmur (Helm of Awe, Aegir’s Helmet), which is a Viking symbol of protection and power. 

You may choose the symbol shown, the love symbol, or initials to be burned into the back.

The front is sealed, if you would like the back left unsealed for use with aromatherapy/essential oils, please let me know.

The pendant is attached to a black nylon cord which fastens with two adjustable sliding knots.
